The US Open is one of the biggest tournaments on the tennis calendar, but a wet and windy fortnight in New York (courtesy of Hurricane Irene) didn't make for a classic event this year. In fact, I was glad to see the back of it.
Last week was a quiet one with the men's ATP Tour taking a few days off. However the women's WTA Tour was in action and we landed a Treble in the Bell Challenge in Quebec. That was followed by a tasty 2/1 Treble on the men's lower tier Challenger Tour - putting us in profit overall for the week.
Here are last week's results.

Date: Mon 12th Sept
Bet: TREBLE. I.Falconi to beat A.Riske, N.Djkovic to beat R.Nadal and S.Dubois to beat R.Marino @ 5.18
Result: Falconi won 2-0, Djkovic won 3-1, Dubois lost 2-0 - LOST
World No.1 Novak Djokovic beat Rafa Nadal in a final for the 6th time in a row this year to win the US Open men's title and land the first leg of our Treble. Irena Falconi also won to put us in site of a 4/1 winner. But we fell at the last with Stephanie Dubois losing out to fellow Canadian Rebecca Marino. We went on to land two Trebles later in the week though...

Date: Tue 13th Sept
Bet: TREBLE. T.Paszek to beat A.Weinhold, S.Arvidsson to beat E.Bovina and A.Hlavackova to beat M.Oudin @ 2.73
Result: Paszek won 2-1, Arvidsson won 2-1, Hlavackova won 2-0 - WON
A late night winner (UK time!) for us in Canada on Tuesday, with three favourites all doing the business in the women's Bell Challenge in Quebec.
Three is NOT a magic number...
Date: Wed 14th Sept
Bet: H.Watson v S.Arvidsson - Total Sets in the match to be Three @ 11/8
Result: Watson won 7-5, 6-3 (Two sets) - LOST
Both players have a track record of throwing away leads (Watson) or coming from behind to win (Arvidsson), and the stats suggested 11/8 was a good price for this match to go the full 3-set distance. However Watson came through a tight first set and then closed out the win in the second.
Rising to the Challenge at 2/1...
Date: Sat 17th Sept
Bet: TREBLE. E.Prodon to beat D.Munoz-Da Le Nava, D.Istomin to beat R.Berankis and P.Kohlschreiber to beat M.Jaziri @ 3.14
Result: Prodon won 2-0, Istomin won 2-0, Kohlschreiber won 2-0 - WON
A nice 2/1+ winner on Saturday afternoon with three in-form players all winning well in semi final matches on the men's Challenger Tour. All three players dispatched their opponents in straight sets.
